By completing the registration process for PROJECT PBE, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service. Registration constitutes a legally binding agreement between you and PROJECT PBE. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not register for or participate in the Event.
PROJECT PBE is an independent, triannual competitive Teamfight Tactics event hosted and directed by Kai Watanabe through mentr. The Event runs on the PBE server using a custom-built Discord bot with proprietary Beta LP (BLP) tracking. It consists of a multi-circuit ladder phase followed by a MAJOR tournament for the top Tier 1 qualifiers.
PROJECT PBE operates across three circuits:
Promotion and demotion applies across all circuits. Players who reach the qualifying BLP threshold in their current circuit will advance to the next circuit the following set.
PROJECT PBE runs three times per year, aligned with each new TFT set. Dates, formats, and circuit structures may be updated between events. Participants will be notified of any material changes via the PROJECT PBE Discord.
Eligibility for each circuit is determined by peak rank on the participant’s primary server. Players are responsible for registering for the correct circuit based on their rank. PROJECT PBE reserves the right to verify rank and move participants between circuits or remove ineligible participants at its discretion.
The following players are auto-qualified for Tier 1 and do not count toward the 350-player cap:
Auto-qualified players must still complete the registration process to participate. Failure to register by the stated deadline will result in forfeiture of the auto-qualification.
Participants must have a valid PBE account in good standing to compete. PROJECT PBE is not responsible for any PBE access issues, queue restrictions, or account suspensions that prevent participation. No refunds, substitutions, or accommodations will be made for PBE account issues outside our control.
All participants are expected to conduct themselves with sportsmanship and integrity throughout the Event. This includes interactions in the PROJECT PBE Discord, on stream, and in-game. The following are prohibited:
PROJECT PBE reserves the right to issue warnings, disqualify, or permanently ban participants for violations of these conduct standards. Decisions made by the organizing team are final. Appeals may be submitted to Kai directly via Discord or email, but the organizing team’s decision is binding.
Placements during the ladder phase are tracked using Beta LP (BLP) via the custom PROJECT PBE Discord bot. Participants are responsible for submitting their lobby results correctly in accordance with the submission instructions provided in the Discord. Incorrect or late submissions may result in BLP not being awarded. PROJECT PBE is not responsible for technical failures on the participant’s end that result in missed submissions.
A daily BLP decay system applies to Tier 1 only. At the end of each day, BLP is reduced based on ladder placement if a player has not played enough games to offset the decay. Decay rates are as follows:
Decay can be offset by playing games. The total absolute value of BLP gained or lost across all games in a day must equal or exceed your decay threshold to avoid reduction. Full details and examples are provided in the PROJECT PBE Rulebook. The decay system is applied daily and is non-negotiable. No BLP will be reinstated due to missed gameplay sessions, technical issues, or personal circumstances.
Live leaderboards for all three circuits are hosted at mentr.gg throughout the ladder phase. Leaderboard data is updated based on bot submissions and may not reflect real-time changes at all times. If you believe there is an error in your BLP total, contact an admin in the PROJECT PBE Discord within 24 hours of the disputed game.
The top 25 Tier 1 players at the conclusion of the ladder phase advance to the PROJECT PBE MAJOR. Qualification is determined solely by final BLP standing. PROJECT PBE reserves the right to make final rulings on any disputed placements or tiebreakers.
The MAJOR is a two-day event. Day 1 uses a multi-game format with reseeding. Bottom players are eliminated after Game 4 and the top 16 advance to Day 2. Day 2 uses a Checkmate format where a player must accumulate 20 points and finish 1st to claim the championship.
The MAJOR begins at 10:00 AM EST on each day. A two-step verification process is in place to ensure lobby integrity and give participants sufficient time to join. If you experience any issues joining a lobby, ping an admin in the PROJECT PBE Discord immediately. PROJECT PBE is not obligated to delay the event for any individual participant, but admins are available to assist with technical issues throughout both days.
A prize pool is awarded to top finishers at the MAJOR. The prize pool amount is determined prior to each event and is subject to change based on sponsorship engagement. The prize pool distribution and final amounts will be announced ahead of the MAJOR. PROJECT PBE reserves the right to adjust prize pool distribution in the event of a format change.
Prize pool payments are issued via PayPal. Participants are responsible for ensuring their PayPal account is in good standing and capable of receiving international payments. PROJECT PBE is not responsible for fees, delays, or failures caused by PayPal or any third-party payment processor. Winners must provide a valid PayPal address within 7 days of the MAJOR conclusion. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the prize.
Participants are solely responsible for any tax obligations arising from prize winnings in their respective jurisdictions. PROJECT PBE does not provide tax advice and will not withhold taxes on behalf of participants unless required by applicable law.
Participants are encouraged to stream their gameplay during the ladder phase and the MAJOR. By participating in PROJECT PBE, you grant PROJECT PBE and its organizers the right to use your in-game username, likeness, stream clips, and gameplay footage for promotional and recap content related to the Event. This includes but is not limited to social media posts, event recaps, and sponsor deliverables.
Participants in the MAJOR may be asked to use a sponsor-provided stream command (e.g., !overlay) during their broadcast. Participation in sponsor integrations is expected as part of the MAJOR format. Tier 1 participants during the ladder phase may also be asked to display a tracker overlay provided by a Title-tier sponsor. Cooperation with reasonable sponsor requests is a condition of participation.
PROJECT PBE makes no guarantees regarding competitive outcomes, prize eligibility, or continued participation. The organizers reserve the right to modify, postpone, or cancel the Event at any time. In the event of cancellation, PROJECT PBE will make reasonable efforts to notify participants but is not liable for any losses incurred as a result.
PROJECT PBE shall not be held liable for failure or delay in performance due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

PROJECT PBE reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the PROJECT PBE Discord. Continued participation in the Event after changes to the Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
