The off-season home of elite TFT competition

PROJECT PBE is an independent, triannual competitive TFT event hosted and directed by Riot Partner Kai Watanabe through mentr.

The mission is simple: bring the best TFT players from every region in the world into the same competitive environment. World Champions, TPC pros, and top regional players from AMER, EMEA, APAC, and CN compete on equal footing. It does not matter who you are or how well-known you are. If you are one of the best, PROJECT PBE is where you belong.

The event runs on the PBE server using a custom-built Discord bot with proprietary Beta LP (BLP) tracking. Leaderboards are hosted live on mentr.gg throughout the ladder phase.

PROJECT PBE also provides a clear pathway into professional TFT for talented players who may not otherwise have the visibility or access to compete at this level.

Host and Director
Kai Watanabe (Tokio Kobayashi), Riot Partner. Co-directed with lead developer Oren Vishny.
Data Partner (CN)
DataTFT (Set 15 onward). Without this partnership, connecting with CN players and including them in the field would not be possible. Their involvement is what makes PROJECT PBE a truly global event.
Community
2,850+ members in the PROJECT PBE Discord. Active year-round across all three annual events.
Fully Independent
PROJECT PBE is fully independent. While Kai Watanabe holds Riot Partner status, the event is not affiliated with or sponsored by Riot Games.

Three Tiers. One MAJOR

How the event is structured

April 6 – 10, 2026
The Ladder

Players compete on the PBE server in their respective circuits. Beta LP (BLP) is tracked in real time by the custom Discord bot. A decay system applies to Tier 1 only (30 BLP per day for ranks 1-8, down to 10 BLP for ranks 25-32), keeping the top of the leaderboard actively contested. Queue times are expected to be under 10 minutes maximum.

April 11, 2026 – 10:00 AM EST
MAJOR – Day 1

The top 25 Tier 1 players compete in a multi-game format with reseeding between games. 1st place on ladder gets a day 2 bye. Bottom players are eliminated after Game 4. The top 8 advance to Day 2.

April 12, 2026 – 10:00 AM EST
MAJOR – Day 2

Checkmate format. 20 points to reach check. A player must finish 1st to claim the championship. A prize pool is awarded to top finishers, with the amount growing based on sponsorship support.

Annual Cadence
PROJECT PBE runs three times per year, aligned with each new TFT set. Every event follows the same ladder-to-MAJOR structure, giving competitors a consistent competitive calendar throughout the off-season.
